Flex Hours

For many jobs that are not shift-based manufacturing operations, letting employees determine their own arrival and departure times is feasible. Regardless of when they start work, the job still gets done by the end of the day. If they come in a little later, they simply leave a little later and vice versa for early risers. Flexible work hours benefit both the employer and the employee.

Advantages of flex hours:

  • Employees are better able to meet family obligations either at the start or end of the work day without the need to take personal leave timeEmployees can travel at non-peak commute times.
  • Transit users can take the most convenient bus route/schedule since it doesn’t matter if they arrive to work at 8:00 am or 8:10 am.
  • Employees who commute by walking or cycling can travel in daylight (at least in one direction).
